Pikachu protest in Turkey

How a genius Pikachu idea caught up the whole worlds attention towards turkey, a slowly feeble protest has been electrified with Pikachus appearance. Turkey’s President Recep Tyep Erdogan’s 25 years long tenure seems to be very close to an end. A humongous anti establishment protest infuriated Ankara in response of Istanbul’s Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu’s arrest in corruption charges. It is believed that Turkey has finally discovered it’s face against Erdogan.

Erdogan, country’s president who has held sway since 2003. He has won 13 elections nationwide consolidating power in Turkey over decades. Mustafa Kamal Ataturk who was the father of modern Turkey, he established the new Turkey out of complete null in 1923 after the world war 2. Probably after the Ataturk it is Erdogan who has been holding the power for such a long time.

One of the primary reasons that is literally giving acute ache to Mr. Erdogan is country’s economic slowdown which has started in 2018. Turkish Lira has seen a significant and ongoing decline mainly due to economic mismanagement and political instability. In 2018 valuation of Turkish Lira to USD was 4.5$ in May and in August it came down to 7$ currently it is closely 28$. Due to this huge inflation CPI has touched the pinnacle and people are exasperated with Erdogan’s economic Policy. His interference in central banks’ monetary policy, capriciuosly raising and decreasing interest rates to maintain his popularity and make himself relevant have totally devastated country’s economical condition. 

Second reason is Ekrem Imamoglus’s arrest. Ekrem is the Mayor of Istanbul, which is one of the most prominent and business capital city of Turkey. Ekrem is a senior member of Turkey’s main opposition party (Secularist Republican Party), Since 2019 he has been opposing Erdogans economic policy and posed himself as the savior of democracy, justice, and economy and eventually he succeeded to instill an image of honest politician in people’s mind. In 2019 he defeated AK partys candidate which is presdint Erdogans party in Istanbul, where AK party had hold over a long period of time. Emrem’s win in Istanbul gave him a political importance throught the nation.

A crucial allegation against Erdogan was 2023 presidential election manipulation, forensic analysis indicates major statistical ireregularities had percieved in the election which had been taken place on the direction of President Erdogan. 

He has records of supressing many protest brutally e.g. 2013 enviormental protest. He has always tries to pose himslef as the Khaliphate of Muslim world, and in that process he made lot of mistakes which ranges up to debiliating the relations with many countries including Russia, India. The consequence of neglecting and repressing the civil socitey for long time.
